French Chamber of Commerce publishes the report of its 2021 Myanmar Salary Survey

Yangon – CCI France Myanmar has just published today the report on its third anonymous salary survey launched in January 2021, available on its website to everyone for free (https://bit.ly/2UEudLo).

The online questionnaire gathered a total of more than 300 answers from companies and professionals from all sectors operating in Myanmar. Like the 2020 edition of the survey is 100% and completely anonymous, thus guaranteeing the confidentiality of the data.

The 2021 Myanmar Salary Survey was launched in January 2021, after almost one year of Covid, but just before the starting point of the political crisis. Therefore, it is safe to say that the data it presents is already obsolete and belongs to history.

Indeed, these two crises have dramatically impacted all companies, as CCI France Myanmar detailed in the report on the survey launched with 10 other Chamber and published in last May 2021 (https://bit.ly/reportsurvey2021).

This report shows that both crises especially impacted the human resources of all companies, regardless of their sectors, nationalities, sizes, or years of operating in the country. Their cumulative effects led to hundreds of thousands of terminations of employment contracts, to drastic reductions in salaries, to the implementation of unpaid leaves, part-time work, without mentioning their toll on the physical and mental health of employees.

These events are completely rewriting anticipated evolution of the Myanmar economy, as it was forecast until last year based on 10 years of continuous growth.

Yet, the 2021 Myanmar Salary Survey remains extremely useful to all companies operating in Myanmar”, explains Mr. Guillaume REBIERE, Executive Director of CCI France Myanmar. “Indeed, it is the only free survey of its kind in Myanmar, which is available to everyone. It also provides a point of reference to employers and employees on the state of the market in January 2021”, he continues. “Finally, it will be especially useful, when we launch the fifth edition of our Myanmar Salary Survey in January 2022, since it will offer a way to compare and study the evolution of the market in 2021.”

The Myanmar Salary Survey is launched and published annually. CCI France Myanmar hopes to continuously increase the number of participants to improve the quality and the reliability of the results year after year.
